Southern Breakfast

I know you heard of Shrimp and Grits but how about Salmon and grits?! Yes salmon and grits is a thing. A nice combination that you should try at least once and your lifetime. Quick, simple and delicious.

Grits Ingredients/ Instructions

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 2 cups of water

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 3/4 cups of instant quick cooking grits

  • Sharp cheddar cheese

  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

  • Dash of turmeric

  1. Add butter, water and salt to a pan.

  2. Heat wet ingredients on high until it begins to boil.

  3. Reduce heat to medium low and gradually stir in instant grits

  4. Stir occasionally as grits cook and add turmeric

  5. Once grits have thickened, reduce heat to low then add as much cheese as you like until melted

Salmon Ingredients/ Instructions

  • 2 tablespoon of grapeseed oil

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 3 4-5 oz boneless skinless salmon filets

  • 1 tablespoons of creole seasoning

  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice

  • Dash of Basil

  • Dash of Thyme

  • Dash of Oregano

  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced for garnish

  1. Add butter and oil to Iron skillet on medium heat

  2. add your lemon, seasoning and herbs to salmon

  3. Put Salmon into skillet and sear both sides until dark golden brown

  4. then turn down heat cook until just barely translucent in the center, or to your liking. Timing depends on the thickness of your salmon but it shouldn't take more than 5-6 minutes

  5. Garnish your plate
