I got the COVID-19 test

Updated: Jun 10

I have to get surgery coming up and due to the pandemic everyone has to get tested before going in. I’m not going to lie I was more scared to get the test done more than having surgery.

Here was my experience getting tested, I went through a drive thru the facility created. I showed my medical card then two minutes later two nurses approached my car explaining what to do. “chin up, keep your head straight looking at the windshield” One nurse put the swab up my nose and I immediately felt a burning sensation then he twirled the swab four times and my eyes began to water. The other nurse was my cheerleader telling me I was doing good and I was strong, (That actually helped me relax a little more) My throat itched like crazy and I let out a hard cough once the swab came out. From start to finish it took about five minutes and the test results will take 2-3 days. Although it was fast, I never want to do it again.

Why do I have to get surgery you ask?

Well, I have a mass on my upper rib cage called lipoma. A fatty lump most often situated between the skin and underlying muscle layer.

Lipoma's are slow growing and usually harmless. Rarely, they can be cancerous.

It went from a dime size to plum size over the years. Very uncomfortable at this point and unflattering! Anytime I wear something tight or want to wear a bathing suit that’s all I can see. Most importantly, I’m doing it for my kids! I don’t want to leave anything abnormal in my body. I want to be as healthy as I can for them. They’re my reason to keep being my best self. Otherwise, I don’t think I could have got it done if it wasn’t for them. I will be getting an autopsy on this tumor once its out.
