Air Cleaning Houseplants

Updated: Jun 17

Who wouldn't want fresher air in the home? Studies by NASA show indoor air is contaminated with toxic chemicals from furniture, carpet, air conditioner, cleaners and more.

Have you ever noticed when in the forest or hiking how crisp and fresh the air was?

Plants are a great way to purify air and overall make the home more cozy. I love the look of fresh indoor plants. The greenery alone is a mood booster, it carries a high vibration and is known to cause a calming effect to make you feel more relaxed while improving indoor air quality.

I'm sharing the health benefits of 7 indoor plants that will help add more oxygen to your home;

Aloe Vera

One of my favorite plants listed. Best known for its healing properties. I literally use it for Hair, Skin and Scars. Miracle plant is what I call it (Thank you mother nature), It is low maintenance and barely needs watering. While sitting pretty it lowers carbon dioxide levels and is the most notable air- improving plants.

Snake Plant

This is the perfect low maintenance plant, Minimum water and fast growing. I love a plant you don't have to do much too. One of the most oxygen producing plants in the world. Absorbing Carbon Dioxide from the atmosphere resulting in a safer and less toxic environment. Snake plants clean the air better than most indoor plants. Filtering the air from harmful chemicals. Benzene is a chemical found in many basic items like oil, paint, detergents, dyes, gasoline, etc. Benzene is known to irritate eyes, skin, promote bacteria. The snake plant, in the NASA study removed 52.6% benzene in a sealed chamber. That is 28,710 micro-grams of benzene removed per plant in 24 hours exposure. This plant is, therefore, an excellent plant for great health and overall well being.

Golden Pothos

Pothos, I find to be the most fun to doctorate with. If you like the jungle-like vibe. Their trailing, vine-like growth habit and roots sprouting from the stem, you can train pothos plants to climb a small door, post a pole, or a door frame or window with a few small nails of course for support. My favorite is hanging baskets, so fresh and yet so simple. Detoxify your rooms that has low lighting because this plant thrives the natural way.

Peace Lily

This beautiful plant can cleanse air and improve the quality by 60%. It also absorbs mold spores through its leaves and circulates them to the roots to use as food. The perfect plant for bathrooms, this plant can help to keep tiles free from mildew.

Spider Plant

Fun fact this houseplant can remove up to 90% of the toxins from the air in just two days. It's great for people who have allergies. Must have period.
